Bharatanatyam online classes in Malayalam

A young child follows a correction faster in the language spoken at home. Malayali children abroad often understand Malayalam well even when they answer in English, and a class in Malayalam keeps that link alive every week.

The songs, stories and terms of classical dance also sit closer to Malayalam than to English. Explaining an abhinaya or a rhythm in Malayalam is simply easier.

Classes are live over video, one hour each, four times a month, with small batches. Arunima Raj teaches every class herself and corrects each student on screen as they dance. A recording of the class is sent on request.

Classes run in Malayalam, English, or a mix, whichever the family prefers. The timing is set around your time zone, whether you are in Kerala, the Gulf, the UK, the USA, Canada or Australia.

Arunima Raj trained under Kalamandalam Latha and Kalamandalam Leelamani, holds an MA in Bharatanatyam from Kannur University (second rank) and a Diploma in Bharatanatyam, and founded Narthaki in Kasaragod in 2020. Forty-five of her students have completed their arangetram.
